Joe Pollock

Site Vice President, Indian Point Energy Center

Joseph E. Pollock became site vice president of Indian Point Energy Center on December 6, 2007. As site vice president, Pollock is responsible for overall operation of Indian Point Energy Center’s units 2 and 3, and the maintenance of unit 1 which is decommissioned.

Before joining Entergy, Pollock spent more than 30 years in the nuclear industry at power stations including Calvert Cliffs, Salem Generating Station and D.C. Cook Nuclear Station. Prior to coming to Entergy, he worked as plant manager at Calvert Cliffs Station, a dual-unit pressurized water reactor located in Maryland.

Pollock began his career with PSEG Nuclear at the Hope Creek Generating Station in 1971 where he worked in maintenance. Throughout his career with PSEG, he worked in various positions at Salem and Hope Creek stations, including planning, maintenance, operations, outage and quality. In 1996, PSEG named Pollock manager of quality assessment for the company’s nuclear business unit until he went back to Salem and Hope Creek plants as the manager of plant maintenance.

In 1999, Pollock went to work for American Electric Power at the D.C. Cook, a dual-unit pressurized water reactor site, where he was named director of performance assurance, plant manager and named site vice president of operations in February 2002. In 2004 Pollock worked at Institute of Nuclear Power Operators, where he was a senior representative, coordinating between INPO and six nuclear generating sites, where he conducted independent review visits and provided recommendations to the leadership team.

His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Glassboro State College. He holds a senior reactor operator certificate at Hope Creek, a boiling water reactor. He also completed Columbia University’s Graduate Business Executive Management Program in 1998 and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operators’ Senior Nuclear Plant Management Course in 2000.
